Kalle Mattson Announces 'Avalanche' EP, Shares New Song

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 11, 2015

Ottawa-based singer-songwriter Kalle Mattson got intensely personal on his last album Someday, the Moon Will Be Gold — a record that heard the musician coming to grips with his mother's death. Now, he's ready to follow it up with a new EP.

Titled Avalanche, the new six-song set will arrive on August 21 through Home Music Co.

The new EP serves as an extension to the previous record, but hears Mattson veering slightly away from his folk roots and towards a more pop sound. It was produced by Colin Munroe and mixed by Alex Aldi.

In addition to the album announcement, he has unveiled a new song called "A Long Time Ago." Gently plucked guitars blend with soft drum machine beats and airy vocal harmonies on "A Long Time Ago," adding some sparkle, but maintaining the emotional vulnerability of the song.
