Vancouver DJ/producer K-Rec has been teasing the release of his Third Beach EP for quite some time now, and he is finally set to let loose his relationship-themed song cycle before the sunny season ends. With the mini-release officially out today (August 19), you can dip your toes into the summery soundscape now on Exclaim.ca

Described in a press release as "a concept EP about the ups and downs of a relationship juxtaposed with the cycle of the summer season," the record starts off with the sudsy sounds on an incoming tide, seagull calls and a sample of before launching into a beat-matching batch of vintage soul-sampling tracks. Chaplyn adds phosphorescent vocals to the easy breezy "Best Foot" and Checkmate adds bars to the conga drum- and guitar-plinking island vibe of "My Loves," while a warming wash of electric piano and falsetto vocal samples usher us out on "Happiness."
