Justin Townes Earle Goes Memphis Soul on New Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 1, 2012

After releasing four albums in as many years between 2007 and 2010, Justin Townes Earle slowed down and didn't put out a new LP in 2011. Now, the Americana songwriter is back with another album, Nothing's Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now, due out March 27 via Bloodshot Records.

A press release notes that the album was recorded in a "completely live" four-day session at a converted church called Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC.

In a statement, the songwriter said, "I think that it's the job of the artist to be in transition and constantly learn more. The new record is completely different than my last one, Harlem River Blues. This time I've gone in a Memphis-soul direction."

The songwriter co-produced the album himself along with Skylar Wilson, and drew on mostly the same cast of contributors who played on 2010's Harlem River Blues.
