Godflesh Return with 'Decline & Fall' EP, Tease New Album

After disbanding in 2002, Jesu mastermind Justin K. Broadrick reformed his beloved industrial metal duo Godflesh with G.C. Green in 2010 for some live dates. They then hit the studio to cover Slaughter's "F.O.D." late last year, which apparently sparked some collaborative spirit as they've now prepared a proper EP.

The new release is called Decline & Fall and contains four new compositions from the act, marking their first new material since 2001's Hymns. A Japanese version of the release will be expanded to include two additional songs.

Decline & Fall will arrive in the UK June 2 and in North America June 24 via Broadrick's own Avalanche Inc. It will be followed by the band's new full-length, which is tentatively called A World Lit Only by Fire, this September.

In an interview with French radio station Le 106, Broadrick opened up about the new album. "I just think, like we're playing these shows, we feel very pure about we're doing and honoring the initial intentions with what we originally set out to do," he said. "Which, I think, like most bands and musicians and all the rest of it, by the time you get on to your fourth album, it's somewhat of a dilution going on to what you initially tried to achieve. It will definitely sound aggressive and it probably won't sound like any of the other records we've made, but it will have the minimalism of the first few records."
