The Greatest Hit is a compilation of remixes, obscure singles and unreleased material from Tony Bowes' Justice project. It's a junglist affair, where the percussion is often light and laced with soft analog tones. Occasionally, Bowes' vibe gets sinister, like on "Sequential 7" and "Lexicon," but the feelings in his work are generally cosmic, with spacy synthscapes and pristine production values. The balance of melodic gestures and gentle break-beat pressure draws comparisons to Jacob's Optical Stairway and the Omni Trio, without sounding like a rip-off of either. With music that's as original and well-composed as this, its just too bad Bowes' name isn't anywhere near as noticeable as his counterparts.
