Justice

"D.A.N.C.E."

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jan 2, 2008

MTV nominations, an unforgettable appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, sole dance floor ownership – the reward for Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay’s crossover smash hit will probably keep coming as the next year rolls by. As if the monstrous † wasn’t enough, the Parisian crew introduced themselves with the year’s best dance track. Stepping aside from the pounding pulsations of their album, this immaculate slice of Jackson-brand soul came wrapped and mashed in a kindergarten sing-along chorus that worked as both a spelling lesson and "Y.M.C.A.”-sized letter shout outs with such memorable calls as "Do the D.A.N.C.E. 1,2,3,4 FIGHT!” and of course, "You are such a P.Y.T.” Aww… And I can’t remember a song as remixed as this one in the past, umm… well, actually forever. However, only Alan Braxxe’s nod to Big Bam Boom managed to come within ten feet of the original. You’ve gotta wonder if it was Justice biting the Jackson Five’s steez for this juggernaut that got Michael, Jermaine, Tito, Jackie, Randy and Marlon back together for these reunion talks. Probably not, but it’d be neat to think these two Frenchies had something to do with it. Somehow I managed to get through all of that without talking about the amazing video…
