Just What the World Needs: A Def Leppard Cartoon Series

BY Keith CarmanPublished Dec 21, 2009

If you were to ask us what band would seemingly last forever, new wave of British heavy metal stalwarts/hair metal precursors Def Leppard would have been at the tail-end of the list.

However, not only are the band outliving cockroaches, but the group responsible for such pelvic-thrusting greats as "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Rock of Ages" are now being transformed into an animated TV series.

Billboard reports that the Lep have signed a new publishing deal that's looking to expand rights to using their image/music in new ways other than the traditional movie soundtracks and commercials.

This would include the television show that has been explained as "depicting the five members of the group in a fictional, adventurous setting." At present, the show is only in development and has not been pitched to television stations.

The company, Primary Wave, is also looking into what CEO Larry Mestel describes as an "unusual" videogame and some cellphone applications. Maybe an app that lets you drum with one arm?
