Published Nov 13, 2012In recent years, the Juno Awards has celebrated Canada's musical legacy by staging live concerts in which performers played some classic Canuck tunes. This year, the awards will be keeping that tradition going, and on December 1, the Junos will host a covers show at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.
Performers on the night will pay tribute to some of the country's finest-ever musical talent by covering classic tunes by Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees. Artists on board for the show include Buck 65, Jay Malinowski of Bedouin Soundclash, Max Kerman of Arkells, the Matinee, Russell deCarle of Prairie Oyster, Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay of July Talk, Andy Maize of Skydiggers, and Mike Ford of Moxy Früvous.
Tickets for the Exclaim!-sponsored event cost $20 and can be purchased at the Horseshoe Tavern, Rotate This, Soundscapes, Ticketmaster or MapleMusic starting tomorrow (November 14). Proceeds will go to the music education charity MusiCounts.
This will help to set the stage for Juno Week in 2013. The Juno Concert Series will hold an event this coming March with details to be confirmed in the new year.
