Almost 15 years after their collaborative, self-titled effort won a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, New Brunswick singer-songwriter Julie Doiron teamed up again with Ottawa indie-rockers Wooden Stars yesterday evening (August 20). The first in a string of four dates together again, the mood onstage seemed light and enjoyable as Doiron and her bandmates worked their way through familiar cuts from the celebrated record such as "The Longest Winter," "Drums and Horns" and "The Last Time."

Pleasant vocal harmonies and top notch six-string work between Doiron and Wooden Stars guitarists Michael Feuerstack and Julien Beillard showed the material has held up well since its release. Soft-spoken and quick to confess that she wasn't the greatest at onstage banter, it was rare to not see a smile on Doiron's face throughout the set, suggesting that 15 years hasn't done much to weaken the chemistry between her and her bandmates.
