Julie Doiron Starts New Band with Eamon McGrath and Members of Cancer Bats, Announces 7-inch and Tour

Celebrated Canuck songwriter Julie Doiron has a new solo album due out this fall, but in the meantime, she has launched a star-studded new band for a tour and a 7-inch.

The group is called Julie Doiron & the Wrong Guys, and it features Eamon McGrath, plus Cancer Bats members Mike Peters and Jaye Schwarzer. Although the project was originally intended to be a one-off, a press release notes that it is now "a full-on continuous collaboration."

We'll get a taste of their sound when they release the single "Heartbeats" as a 7-inch on September 18 via We Are Busy Bodies. It apparently "documents the lunatic collision between the mammoth rumbling of Peters and Schwarzer's bass and drums, the maniacal guitar playing of McGrath, and the delicate songwriting of Doiron." The release was produced by Dearly Beloved's Rob Higgins.

The band will launch the single with a six-date tour in September. The bulk of the shows are in Ontario, with one additional appearance in Montreal. See the schedule below. All shows will be with Dearly Beloved.

Tour dates:

9/6 London, ON - Call the Office
9/7 Ottawa, ON - Cafe Dekcuf
9/8 Montreal, QC - Il Motore
9/9 Kingston, ON - The Mansion
9/12 Hamilton, ON - This Ain't Hollywood
9/13 Toronto, ON - The Garrison
