Julia Stone

'By the Horns' (album stream)

Known to many as one half of Aussie sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone, the latter is set to release a brand new solo record titled By the Horns. The record comes out today (May 29) via Nettwerk, and you can listen to the whole thing right here at Exclaim.ca.

Produced by Thomas Bartlett and Patrick Dillett (Antony and the Johnsons, the National), the new record maintains the whimsical folk sound that Julia Stone established with her brother, though By the Horns really gives her a chance to shine, as well as gives her an excuse to cover the National's "Bloodbuzz Ohio."

As a duo, Angus and Julia Stone reportedly recorded a number of songs last winter, but shelved them indefinitely to focus on solo projects. While they plan to reunite following the solo projects, By the Horns makes the wait a bit easier.

The album marks the full-length follow-up to her 2010 solo LP The Memory Machine, and you can listen to Julia Stone's By the Horns below.
