Jozef Van Wissem's 'Partir to Live' Score Gets Release via Sacred Bones

Hot on the heels of last year's It Is Time for You to Return, Dutch lute player Jozef Van Wissem is digging into the vaults to release a film score from 2012. His Partir to Live: Original Soundtrack Recording will be released on LP and DVD through Sacred Bones on March 31.

This Chilean film was directed by Domingo Garcia-Huidobro (of Föllakzoid), and most screenings have featured a live soundtrack perform by Van Wissem and the director. According to a press release, the "score for the film consists of appropriated 12-string electric guitar drone, black baroque lute mirror images, and minimal electronics."

For a taste of this, hear the tracks "Eiditic Reduction" and "Ex Cathedra" in the player embedded below. Both of them are icy, abstract and unsettling.

Also below, see a trailer for the film. The flick is described as "a non-narrative experience into sensations, into ethical confusion and into physical and psychic contusions."

Partir to Live: Original Soundtrack Recording will include both the score on vinyl and the film on DVD. It's being pressed in a limited run of 1,000 copies.

Speaking of Föllakzoid, their album III will be out on Sacred Bones on March 31.
