Joyce Manor Are Releasing a Rarities Compilation

California punk-pop greats Joyce Manor have developed a deep, robust discography over the years, but there are still even more songs to see the light of day. Following 2018's Million Dollars to Kill Me, the band have announced plans for a new rarities compilation.

Songs from Northern Torrance collects 10 songs from the band's past, including their first-ever demo and alternate versions of tracks that previously appeared on split EPs.

The record was announced with a lyric video for opener "House Warning Party," which also appeared on Joyce Manor's first demo. You can watch it below.

"A lot of early Joyce Manor songs are actually leftovers from earlier bands, but 'House Warning Party' was the first song I wrote specifically for Joyce Manor," explained vocalist Barry Johnson in a statement. "I was working at the Long Beach Aquarium and the first line of the song came to me while I was perusing the vending machine on my break. They had some LifeSavers and on the packaging it said 'five flavours' and the opening line of the song just popped in my head. The rest of the lyrics came effortlessly and the song was fully written in about the time it takes to listen to. Listening to it 10 years later it sounds young and inspired and I'm impressed at how much of a story I was able to tell in just over a minute."

Songs from Northern Torrance will arrive on streaming services this Friday (May 29) via Epitaph, followed by a vinyl release on September 18.
