Published Jul 27, 2016After releasing their Through the Clouds EP earlier this year, English duo Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker have announced plans for their debut full-length record. Titled Overnight, the pair's first studio LP will arrive this fall.
Produced by both Clarke and Walker, Overnight is described in a press release as the duo's most ambitious record to date, featuring 10 original songs and two covers that are said to showcase both Clarke's "magnificent voice and lyrics" and Walker's "prodigious guitar-playing and arranging."
Serving as an indicator of what's to come is first single "The Waning Crescent," a light moment during what is said to be a darker point in the record.
"I started to think about if I was the moon, what I might think and feel, and what the moon might sing back," Clarke explained in a statement. "I've given it a slightly whiny, self-pitying quality because it's whimsical and a bit funny."
Along with the album announcement and single release, Clarke and Walker have lined up a run of fall tour dates which will bring them to North America for the first time. While most of the dates are in the United States, a lone Canadian performance will find the duo in Toronto for an evening at the Dakota Tavern on September 13.
Overnight will arrive October 14 through Rough Trade. Read through the tracklist and tour dates to hear first single "The Waning Crescent" in the player below.
