Joshua Hyslop

"Living and Dying" (live video)

Folky Vancouver-based singer Joshua Hyslop recently followed his full-length debut Where the Mountain Meets the Valley with his latest single "Living and Dying." The song has now been paired with some visuals and Exclaim.ca has got your first look at the new live clip.

It's simple enough, featuring Hyslop, his banjo and crew of backing musicians recording off the floor. As for the song itself, it's got some environmental activist sentiment behind it.

"'Living & Dying' deals with the issues of humanity's negative impact on the natural world," Hyslop said in a statement. "On a deeper level, it deals with our unwillingness to be involved in making changes or finding a solution, despite how frequently we talk about it."

Hyslop is currently taking his tunes across Canada on a string of house show dates, which you can see below. He'll ditch the living rooms on December 3 for a gig at Vancouver's Media Club, but the other stops promise totally intimate, stay-at-home fun.
