Though he now resides in Portland, OR, Nova Scotia-born shapeshifter Josh Martinez has developed a distinct place in Canada's hip-hop scene through 12 albums of forward-thinking work. Following his last solo album, The World Famous Sex Buffet, Martinez has offered up yet another reinvention for his next record.
The new full-length is called Pissed Off Wild, and a press release suggests that it will take any and all Martinez fans by surprise. "Taking its inspiration from '60s psych rock, '70s blues, '80s punk, '90s grunge and the failings of the 21st century, Martinez has produced an original work of music unlike anything made yet. Full band, no click tracks, mostly live off the floor, has resulted in a labour of love that took five years to make," according to the PR.
Pissed Off Wild will be released by Camobear Records on May 31. A tracklisting is available below, along with a stream of album track "Arrow."
In addition to the new album, Martinez will join Camobear labelmates Evil Ebenezer and the Lytics for a cross-Canada tour, which actually being presented by us here at Exclaim! All dates are available below.
