José González Goes "Green" On North American Tour

BY Scott A. GrayPublished Jan 8, 2008

Where Radiohead have only been speculating, José González has been plotting. Kicking off on February 29th in Miami, FL, González is embarking on a "green” North American tour. Presented in partnership with Reverb, "a non-profit organisation designed to educate and engage music fans and promote environmental sustainability,” plans to green up the tour involve everything from the artist’s rider to the transportation emissions. Reusable water bottles and biodegradable catering products will be used to lessen the human impact while the tour’s CO2 footprint will be calculated and neutralised through support for clean sustainable energy initiatives.

A 50-cent additional charge on general tickets will go towards Reverb’s "greening efforts” and pre-sale ticket buyers ordering through ticketstoday.com can tack on another 50 cents for good karma in the CO2 offset game. And if you still feel that the world could be a greener place if only you’d buy more music swag, custom José González stickers will be available, with proceeds from their sale going towards the purchase of more carbon offsets to cover the tracks of conscientious show goers.
