Published Jul 29, 2011Vancouver-based leather-clad pop punkers the Jolts have been shocking audiences with their jittery brand of Ramones worship for a few years now, and the band will keep the punchy cuts coming with their forthcoming album, 8%.
Described in their press release as "the best rock'n'roll band in Western Canada," the new album, while still tipping its hat to the Jolts' roots, finds the band evolving "beyond punk rock conventions." Reference points for their current batch of tunes include Hanoi Rocks, MC5 and Rose Tattoo.
While 8%, which will be released as a joint venture between the band's own Haute Voltage and Joe Keithley's Sudden Death imprint, has a street date of August 30, you can grab the disc at the group's record release party tonight (July 29) at Vancouver's Fairview Pub.
Following that, the group hit the road for a North American tour that will run from August to October. The tour dates are expected to be announced soon.
