Johnny Sizzle

The Dirty Colleague

BY Rob FerrazPublished Feb 1, 2000

Canada’s underground punk folk sensation is here and he wants to bend your ear with an acoustic guitar and king-sized attitude. What, you may be asking, are the targets of Johnny’s vocally impaired scorn? The entertainment/media world (“Ron Jeremy 4 Presiden”t), Jocks (“Jock Supreemo”), being on the lam (“RCMPIG”), religion (“Satan is My Friend”) among other things. Sizzle comes across like Bob Dylan possessed by Johnny Rotten with the wanderlust of Woody Guthrie in a record that offers something different. This has more grit and realism than a lot of the punk rock and folk that’s out there today.
