Johnny Rotten Scatters Fan's Ashes Onstage with Public Image Ltd.

Currently on tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary, Public Image Ltd. took time out of a recent performance in the UK to honour a late fan of the group.

AltPress points out that not unlike Dying Fetus before him, lead vocalist Johnny Rotten (a.k.a. John Lydon) scattered a fan's ashes onstage during a gig in Frome, England. As he told the crowd, the man's sister had been in touch with the group to request that his ashes be scattered onstage.

"I think that's one of the nicest, most humblest things," Lydon said. "This is for Stuart, a fan whose request is his ashes be spread on the PiL stage. Stuart, we love you! In memory!"

With that, Lydon took the ashes and threw them liberally in the air as the band started into the next song. You can watch the act of remembrance in the player below.

Public Image Ltd. are set to cross the pond later this year for a tour of North America, and you can find dates for that tour here.
