Johnny Jewel

'Digital Rain' (album stream)

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jan 26, 2018

With pseudo-Twin Peaks soundtrack Windswept still fresh in our memories, Johnny Jewel is now making his next solo move with Digital Rain. The album arrives today via his Italians Do It Better, and you can now stream it in all its synthed-out glory.

As previously reported, Jewel recorded the album in Joshua Tree, CA, before mixing it all in L.A. The results are an entirely instrumental album of a very ambient nature, complete with delicately intricate keyboard passages, '80s new-age hat tips and what often sounds like literal digital rain.

"I wanted to make a record without drums, without lyrics, vague in form. Each track morphing and eclipsing the next like the ever-changing movement of clouds obscuring the moon," Jewel previously said in a statement.

You can experience Digital Rain below via digital means or grab a hard copy on 180-gram, gatefold-equipped pink champagne vinyl here via Italians Do It Better.
