Legendary DJ John Peel has finally had his gravestone erected after more than three years since his passing.

The BBC DJ was buried at St Andrew's Church in the village of Great Finborough. His stone is engraved with inscriptions from the two areas of his life he was most passionate about: music and football. The tombstone features lyrics to his all-time favourite song, "Teenage Kicks" by the Undertones, and the Liver Bird, the iconic emblem of the historic Merseyside team Liverpool FC.

"We have put the words on the stone that he would've wanted," said Peel's wife Shelia Ravenscroft to the BBC regarding her loved one’s gravestone. "I wouldn't dare do anything else!" Regarding the delay she added, "I suppose that it was my fault really. I couldn't face it to start with." John Peel passed away on October 25, 2004 at the age of 65.
