Last year, Vancouver experimental pop project John Mutter Was Raised by Wolves renounced the full-length album format, and now Mutter — who has been associated with Dixie's Death Pool, we just stole a car and ffffftttt!!!! — is carrying on with his series of digital singles by rolling out a video for the new tune "Far from Home."
The song is a peppy pop-rock number with an infectious, Strokes-style surge. This isn't an entirely straightforward arrangement, however, since the bridges blast into the 11th dimension with frantic breaks and cosmic synths. A press release explains that it was written after analyzing Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)."
As for the accompanying video, it shows a face projected onto a starscape. This is intercut with some extended shots of a nighttime car-ride. It was directed by Dafny Kaamun.
Watch it below. The single is out through Munt Records.
