For Record Store Day's Black Friday event (November 27), the world will see a truly bizarre release called Like a Puppet Show, which features Hollywood star John Malkovich reading Greek philosopher Plato's Cave Allegory with input from director/photographer Sandro, producer/composer Eric Alexandrakis, and a selection of high-profile remixers. This includes Yoko Ono and her son Sean Lennon, and we can now hear these artists unite on the seven-minute epic "Cryolife 7:14 A.M."
It's a curious, unsettling spoken word piece. It finds Malkovich setting a creepy scene with his description of the warped reality of prisoners in a cave. The backing begins as a creepy soundscape of minimal piano and vocal moans, and then turns into an angular art rock groove, and culminates in a juxtaposition of pretty piano, jazzy syncopations and eerie textures.

Like a Puppet Show will come on double picture disc vinyl. Contributors include OMD, the Dandy Warhols, Ric Ocasek of the Cars, Young the Giant, Placebo, Efterklang, Dweezil Zappa and more.
