John K. Samson Announces Ontario Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 20, 2009

Good news Weakerthans fans: John K. Samson will be taking his solo material on the road for a brief Ontario tour next month. The singer previously told Exclaim! that, compared to full-band performances, during solo shows "all I really get is more nervous." And considering Samson already had the chance to work out these jitters during a European tour last month, he's bound to be well-prepared for the Canadian dates.

In September, we reported that the songwriter is planning a series of solo seven-inches that document his conflicted feelings towards his hometown of Winnipeg. The first of these releases, City Route 85, is out now, and features three songs inspired by Winnipeg's Portage Avenue.

You can still listen to one of these tracks, "Cruise Night," here at Exclaim!'s Click Hear.

For those without a record player, City Route 85 is also available as a digital download from Epitaph/ANTI-.

Tour Dates:

12/9 Kingston, ON - The Grad Club
12/10 Hamilton, ON - The Casbah
12/11 Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace

City Route 85:

1. "Heart of the Continent"
2. "Grace General"
3. "Cruise Night"
