John Frusciante's 'Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt' Gets Expanded Vinyl Reissue

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 25, 2017

Beloved artist John Frusciante is just as likely to give away music as he is to stop releasing it. His unpredictable recording habits have been there from the start, as displayed on his beloved album Niandra LaDes.

When he first quit the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1992, Frusciante was urged by friends to release a series of 4-track recordings. The resulting album, 1994's Niandre LaDes, was a cult classic.

Now, Superior Viaduct is plotting the album's first-ever vinyl edition. It will be available in a deluxe, double red vinyl release that also includes 13 untitled compositions that were previously released as Usually Just a T-Shirt. Further, the release will include a black and white photo of Frusciante and a bonus 7-inch featuring two tracks that were previously only available on cassette.

Further, the label will also issue a standard black vinyl edition of the release. Both iterations arrive on October 20.
