It's busy days for master of horror John Carpenter. Not only is he about to release the new career retrospective Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, but he's having a new film added to his classic Halloween franchise by none other than David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. And while we previously knew that Carpenter would be serving as executive producer for the new film, it also looks as if he'll be doing its music as well.
In a new interview with Billboard, Carpenter said of Green's upcoming Halloween film, "I am an executive producer, and it looks clear to me that I've made a deal to do the music. There are many options. I'll be consulting with the director to see what he feels. I could create a new score, we could update the old score and amplify it, or we could combine those two things. I'll have to see the movie to see what it requires."
While we'll have to wait and see how Carpenter's musical efforts pan out, he also revealed that Green's new film will ignore every sequel past the original 1978 Halloween film. Also, he explained that OG Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising her role of Laurie Strode.
Carpenter said, "Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago."
The new Halloween film is expected out on October 19, 2018.
