John Carpenter Details 'Firestarter' Soundtrack

A digital release is set for May, while physical editions arrive in October

John Carpenter has unveiled the soundtrack for Firestarter, a forthcoming new film adaptation of Stephen King's 1980 thriller novel.

Composed alongside regular collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, the Firestarter soundtrack will arrive digitally May 13 via Back Lot Music, the same day as the film's theatrical and streaming release.

Physical editions of the Firestarter soundtrack in vinyl, CD, and cassette formats will see release October 14 via Sacred Bones. Find a trailer for the film and "Firestarter (End Titles)" in the players below.

Firestarter follows a girl who develops pyrokinesis and a secret government agency seeking to control her.

King's 1980 novel was first adapted for the big screen in 1984, featuring a score by Tangerine Dream. It was directed by Mark L. Lester, and starred David Keith, Drew Barrymore, Martin Sheen and George C. Scott.

The 2022 adaptation of Firestarter, directed by Keith Thomas, stars Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Sydney Lemmon, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, Michael Greyeyes, and Gloria Reuben.
