We're just under a week away from the July 1 release of Joey Bada$$'s next mixtape, Summer Knights, but since the Beast Coast rapper had previously promised to drop the set a few weeks back, he's making things up to fans by unveiling another preview track, "Amethyst Rockstar."
Bada$$ drops bars about the apparent influx of "makeup artists" in today's rap game, while admitting he's a truthful rhymer by noting he's no Pinocchio. We also get a guest verse on the track from Pro Era pal Kirk Knight, while that smooth, throwback soul beat was whipped up by the world's favourite metal-faced villain, DOOM.
"Last year, eye was getting used DOOM beats from YouTube. A year later and everything comes back full circle," Bada$$ said in a statement. "Much love to medalfangaz on this one... #STADIUMMUSIC."
