Joe Vickers

"Landlocked" (video)

Singer-songwriter (and grain farmer) Joe Vickers released his latest album Notes for the Wood Burning Stove earlier this year, and now that he's back from taking the record on tour, he's ready to unveil a brand new video for "Landlocked."

The track opens the second half of the album, and the accompanying video wasn't a particularly easy one to capture. It was filmed in Drumheller, AB, by director Locke Vincent — in -30C temperatures. The crew persevered through the cold to make the clip, reinforcing the meaning behind the song.

"'Landlocked' is a prairie lament filmed in the dead of winter in my hometown of Drumheller," Vickers tells Exclaim! "It explores the realities of rural existence, the harsh isolation of winter, and the paradoxical experience of being trapped in vastness, unable to move on. It is an ode to those who find themselves enduring simply because the prairies taught them how to endure."

From the comfort of summer's warmer weather, watch the video for "Landlocked" down below.
