Joe Silva

Loudmouth Sirens

BY Philip DowneyPublished Feb 1, 2006

Joe Silva’s debut album is house, of the tech-ier variety. The Winnipeg producer and composer’s album starts with "Sleepworking,” which has a jazzy, swinging feel. After that there are a few fairly average house tracks. Halfway through, things definitely pick up with the percussive tech-house of "How I Feel” and "Floaters,” a deep and groovy ride that are the two best tracks on the album. Other highlights near the end include the odd jazzy breaks of "Leaving NY” and the slow, funky, down-tempo ending "I Don’t Remember.” Stick around though, as this album gets better as it goes along.
