Published May 01, 2009Time to see if the sophomore jinx - when a band's second album fails to live up to the success of their debut - applies to Glendale, AZ metal outfit Job For A Cowboy. The band have recently finished the effort, Ruination, which will see a July 29 release date worldwide through Metal Blade Records.
Ruination's ten tracks were recorded at Audio Hammer Productions in Sanford, FL with Jason Suecof (the Black Dahlia Murder) at the helm. The album hasn't yet been mixed. That duty has been handed off to At The Gates/Opeth authority Fredrik Nordstrom, in hopes his touch will help render the affair a timeless classic. The album also marks the recorded debut of latest drummer Jon "the Charn" Rice, who has actually been with the band since the tour for Genesis commenced many months ago.
In the routine statement, vocalist Jonny Davy gushes over the band's work. Here's hoping the album says more than he does:
"Job For A Cowboy has toured the world and faced a ton of challenges over the course of the last year-and-a-half. All of the hard work that we've put in and everything that we've experienced is directly reflected in our new songs, which we know are our best yet."
