Joan of Arc Announce North American Dates, Play Toronto, Montreal

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 4, 2013

Last week, we learned about indie-rock experimentalists Joan of Arc's upcoming album Testimonium Songs, and now the long-running conceptual crew have announced some tour dates to help support the set.

The newly revealed tour schedule starts roughly a month after the record's July 30 release through Polyvinyl Records, with the first two nights taking place in Canada. First up is a show at Toronto's Garrison on August 22, while Joan of Arc head to Montreal's Il Motore the next night.

As previously reported, Testimonium Songs is a six-song outing based on Objectivist poet Charles Reznikoff's Testimony. It features performances from band mainstays Tim Kinsella, Bobby Burg and Theo Katsaounis, as well as David Grubbs, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Michael Zerang, Jim Baker and Melina Ausikaitis. You can stream the effort's "Amelia" down below.

The song cycle is intended to be performed live incorporating elements of dance and theatre. While songs from the LP may figure into the upcoming tour dates, a proper staging of Testimonium takes place at Chicago's Storefront Theater October 17 to 20. The presentation will be a collaboration between Joan of Arc and arts collective Every House Has a Door.
