Back in December, Chicago art rock experimenters Joan of Arc called on fans to help raise funds for a recording session with production guru Steve Albini. They successfully raised enough cash to work with Albini for five days, emerging with the nine tracks that make up Life Like.
According to a press release, the album "shows a brand new side of Joan of Arc while still using the same old rock machinery." Part of this new side is due to the addition of guitar whiz Victor Villarreal, who performed with members of the band in Cap'n Jazz, Owls, and Ghosts and Vodka.
Life Like will be available from Polyvinyl on May 10. The album is available on CD or 180-gram vinyl. The first 1,000 vinyl LPs will be blue. The album also comes with a 20-page booklet.
