JJ DOOM Rope In Damon Albarn, Beth Gibbons for 'Key to the Kuffs'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 5, 2012

Earlier this year, we learned that masked hip-hop supervillain DOOM had teamed up with out-there beatsmith Jneiro Jerel for the aptly named JJ DOOM project, with a release date expected sometime this summer. Considering DOOM's often delayed release schedule (DOOMSTARKS, anyone?), we're a bit shocked to report the duo's debut, Key to the Kuffs, will actually arrive on time. The album hits shelves August 21 via Lex Records.

The 15-track collaboration also features a few high-profile guest stars. Blur frontman Damon Albarn, with whom DOOM has collaborated with in Gorillaz and Jerel worked with in DRC Music, shows up on album track "Bite the Thong," while Portishead's Beth Gibbons appears on "GMO." Khujo Goodie of Goodie Mob also stops by on "Still Kaps."

You can check out the tracklist, as well as a video for the previously premiered "Banished," down below. That's the record's cartoony artwork up above.
