JJ DOOM

"Bookhead" (video)

Moving on from Key to the Kuffs, Jneiro Jarel and DOOM's JJ DOOM project is repping literacy with a video for new tune "Bookhead."

Directed by Stephen Powers, the clip finds the metal-faced villain replacing his trademark mask with a reflective-mirror security camera cover he ganked from a local corner store, which he uses to help him read the classics at a library. Apparently always working on how to improve his flow, he thumbs his way through a synonym dictionary and gets some bawdy inspiration from the pages of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales.

Jarel, meanwhile, fits DOOM's cantankerous flow with a hazy stretch of synths and grim bass lines, but sets the song into gentler, island rhythms for its outro.
