Once again, the East Coast Music Awards are back to honour the music of Atlantic Canada. The event will cap off the annual East Coast Music Week, which runs from April 11 to 15 in Moncton, NB.

The 2012 award nominees (for both musicians and industry folks) have now been announced, with songwriter Jimmy Rankin leading the way with a whopping eight nominations. He released his album Forget About the World last spring.

Other artists who scored big are Classified with six nominations, as well as David Myles, the Trews and Matt Andersen with five nominations apiece. Some more notable nominees include Hey Rosetta!, Paper Lions, Jenn Grant, In-Flight Safety, and Rebekah Higgs.

Fans will be able to have their say by voting on two of the award categories: Bell Aliant Fan's Choice Entertainer of the Year and Bell Aliant Fan's Choice Video of the Year. Voting for these categories will be open between March 1 and April 5. The awards gala will take place on April 15 at Moncton's Casino New Brunswick.

East Coast Music Week will also include an industry conference and artist performances. Tickets for some of the events (include the awards gala) are available directly from the ECMA website.
