Jimi Hendrix: Rock Band Due Out in 2010

Though music games seem to be waning in sales, the makers of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchises have shown no signs of slowing down in their output. Next up on the docket: a Rock Band game centred around guitar icon Jimi Hendrix.

According to Janie Hendrix, Jimi's stepsister and the person in charge of his estate, Jimi Hendrix: Rock Band will likely be out by the end of 2010. Little else is known about the game, but Janie dropped the news in an interview with the L.A. Times, who wrote, "At the time the deal was completed, Sony vowed to make his music 'available through every type of media' - including a new edition of Rock Band that Janie Hendrix says should appear before the end of this year."

Neither MTV Games, who publish the Rock Band series, or Harmonix, the games developer, has yet to comment. Still, with the 40th anniversary of Hendrix's death approaching this fall, it would only make sense for the game to come out this year.
