Filmmaker Jim Jarmusch and producer Carter Logan have come together on a few movie soundtracks and EPs as SQÜRL since their late-aughts origins as Bad Rabbit, and now, at long last, the duo have announced plans for their debut studio album Silver Haze. It's due May 5 through Sacred Bones

The work is previewed today by lead single "Berlin '87," which comes attached to a music video directed by Jem Cohen. The band wrote of the track in a statement: "Jim created the basic guitar tracks first in his home studio, with memories of living in Berlin in 1987 floating around him. The tracks were then SQÜRLized by Carter & Randall [Dunn] at Circular Ruin."

The album features additional contributions by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anika and Marc Ribot, and was produced by Dunn (Sunn O))), Boris, Earth, Zola Jesus). It's said to find the group expanding on their "passion for creating rich textural sounds, finessed by a keen ear for production."
