Jim James

"Same Old Lie"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 23, 2016

My Morning Jacket's Jim James has had plenty on his plate what with his band's last record The Waterfall, Chipotle campaigns and producing for the likes of Basia Bulat, but now he's ready to serve up some more of his own solo work with Eternally Even.

Before the full record arrives, he's shared a new track called "Same Old Lie." It's the first sonic sample from the upcoming effort, and James isn't shy about the strong statement he's trying to make with the new music.

"I'm just trying to be a part of the discussion and encourage people to speak out for equality, to not be afraid to speak out for peace and love," he said in a statement. "All of us feel afraid at times in these absolutely insane times, but it's important we speak our minds, cast our votes, and do not give in to fear and hatred."

Hear him channel that passion into "Same Old Lie" down below, and get all the updated album details here.

Eternally Even is out on November 4 through ATO/Capitol Records.
