JFM Preps New LP for Divorce Records

JFM is the musical alias of Toronto electronic experimenter Jesse Matthews and, by the sound of it, he found some truly unique locales to record his upcoming self-titled album. It's due out May 3 through Divorce Records.

A press release describes Matthews' unique process like this: "A nomadic creator, he navigates the outer sound waves, plucking bits and pieces of junk noise from the sonic ether as he drifts. Sure, he is travelling light: just a sampler full of useless memories from the radio, birds from the park where he slept, dudes at a party, squealing feedback to stab at your ears, bass and drums lifted off a dance club from way down the street at weed alley, whatever."

Even stranger, some of the album was apparently recorded on a remote control toy boat on a duck pond.

For a taste of JFM's unique style, check out the reggae-tinged, gentle herky-jerky "Felix" and the hypnotically ambient "Ezy2luv" below. Both tracks are accompanied by abstract, VHS-quality music videos.

JFM will be available in a vinyl pressing of 300. It's available to pre-order from Divorce Records' website. All vinyl pre-orders come with an art zine by Matthews.
