The Jesus and Mary Chain's 'Stoned & Dethroned' Gets Vinyl Repress

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 16, 2012

Scottish noise pop heroes the Jesus & Mary Chain were treated to an excellent reissue campaign last year through Demon Music Group, but while they did see some expanded CD/DVD sets hit the shelves, there was no new vinyl to be found. Now, the band's divisive fifth album Stoned & Dethroned will finally make its return on wax.

Originally issued in 1994, the album hasn't had a vinyl repress since. That will change when 1972 Records bring it to the masses with a March 6 release. The LP can be pre-ordered here.

After defining their sound with feedback-drenched walls of guitars, the Jesus & Mary Chain embraced acoustic guitars with Stoned & Dethroned without entirely ditching their previous identity. Most notably, the Hope Sandoval-assisted album single "Sometimes Always" was an MTV and radio hit.
