Jessy Lanza Returns with 'Oh No,' Premieres New Video

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 27, 2016

Hamilton electronic artist Jessy Lanza has returned with her first full-length since her much-acclaimed, Polaris shortlisted Pull My Hair Back. Titled Oh No, Lanza's latest full-length arrives May 13 through Hyperdub.

Recorded in Hamilton with Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan, Oh No is described in a press release as both an album about nervousness and "a more direct, self-assured and joyful album" than her previous LP. Said to sit in the same wheelhouse as Japanese electronic innovators Yellow Magic Orchestra, the album is "playfully laced with cascading arpeggios, crispy drum machines and breezy songs."

"I want to make people feel good and I want to make myself feel good," the artist said in a statement.

Down below, you'll find a video for Oh No's first single, "It Means I Love You," while the chlorophyll-heavy album art can be see up above.

"I became obsessed with surrounding myself with tropical plants," Lanza added. "I've been convinced that the air quality in our house is slowly killing us. It might sound crazy but the plants have made a huge difference."

Pairing up with Junior Boys, a North American tour behind the new album starts off in early April out in Vancouver, with additional Canadian dates to take place in London and Toronto this May. The full details on the trip opening for Junior Boys can be found below Oh No's tracklisting.

While Pull My Hair Back dropped back in 2013, Lanza had issued the "You Never Show Your Love" single in 2015.
