The Hyperdub label has been celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a couple of compilation releases, with Hyperdub 10.2 due to drop July 21. A month ahead of the release, the label has let loose a preview of Canadian contributor Jessy Lanza's icy relationship number "You & Me."
The track plays the modern R&B card, slowly building itself from a minimalist beat into a flood of smooth synths, skittery computer bleeps and the persistent tick of the stopwatch from 60 Minutes. Add to that the breathy falsetto of Lanza questioning the meaning of love, and you have a keeper.
