Published Sep 14, 2017Jessie Brown is gearing up to release new full-length Keeping Appearances at the end of the month, and before it arrives, the vocalist has lined up a fall tour in support of the record.
The day before the album arrives, Brown will host a listening party at Halifax's Good Robot Brewery. The vocalist will donate half the proceeds from merch sales to the city's Adsum House, an organization that provides services and support to women, families, youth and trans persons during periods of homelessness.
"I am thrilled to be releasing a record that sounds the way I had always dreamed the band to be," Brown said in a statement. "The tones, atmosphere and subject matter all reflect a very specific time period dedicated to rebuilding myself. Which is why I couldn't let this release go by without giving back to the Adsum House in the process. If this helps even one woman find their footing again, then the album will have been a success."
Brown has also shared a video for album cut "Voyeur," which you can find in the player below. Directed by Gavin MacLean, the clip finds Brown standing stoically in black and white while projections of Twitter timelines and viral videos flit over her figure.
UPDATE (9/29, 12 p.m. EDT): Halifax vocalist Jessie Brown's new album 'Keeping Appearances' drops today. To coincide with the release, she's just shared a new video for single "Stepped Out." Watch that down below, as well, and stay tuned for an upcoming third video in the coming weeks.
UPDATE (10/12, 9 a.m. EDT): The final video has now arrived. "Undertow" ties together the videos released for this album, and sums up the vibe of the trilogy — the strength of woman.
