Jessica Rotter

"Flying Off"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 6, 2016

Jessica Rotter comes from a background that's steeped in rich musical tradition. Her grandfather wrote songs for the likes of Rat Packers Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, while the songstress herself has studied and trained in opera, musical theatre and film directing. Her latest project, though, hears her channelling '60s folk and Americana influences — and Exclaim! has your first listen to a new song called "Flying Off."

The track is set to appear on Rotter's upcoming album Plains, and it opens with an atmospheric blend of dramatic strings and moody guitar before Rotter's crystalline vocals kick in and steer the song to its emotional climax.

Plains will arrive in its entirety on April 22, but you can hear an indication of what's to come by listening to the lush orchestral folk of "Flying Off" in the player below right now.
