Jeremy Dutcher stunned audiences with his 2018 debut Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, winning that year's Polaris Music Prize and landing a spot on Exclaim!'s 50 Best Canadian Albums of the 2010s list. Now, he's preparing to debut some new music, albeit in a very different form than a traditional album drop.
On February 8, Dutcher will be performing an original work at Toronto's Aga Khan Museum. Not only will be the music be new, he's actually assembling it on the spot onstage.
The event is called "Jeremy Dutcher: Unplugged," and a listing from the museum describes it like this: "During this very special night, you'll be invited to take part in a public rehearsal and research session with Dutcher and his musicians. Presenting this new material for the first time, Dutcher provides a rare opportunity to witness and influence the making of his work."
This show is part of the Aga Khan Museum's diversity-minded 2019-2020 program, Listening to Each Other. Dutcher's 2019 music video for his song "Mehcinut" was filmed at the museum.
