Jennifer Castle Signs to Flemish Eye for Castlemusic

Up to now, Toronto songstress Jennifer Castle has recorded under the moniker Castlemusic. However, she is getting set to release her first album under her own name. On April 26, Castle will release Castlemusic via her new label home of Flemish Eye.

The album promises to be a mellow, dreamy affair, as a press release says it "reverberates like a world long lost, steeped in longing and foggy like a half-remembered dream." It will feature diverse instrumentation, including "piano, organ, flute, vibes, pedal steel and Castle's trademark guitalele."

Castlemusic is folk music of a decidedly non-traditional variety; "Powers" contains "cosmic lyrical content" while "Poor as Him" combines "swaths of reverb and tremolo into a fuzz guitar fade-out." Castle recorded the album with partner Dave Clarke and producer Jeff McMurrich. It promises to touch on some big themes, as it was "inspired by the rhythm of life, birth and death."

Castle recently lent her vocals to a project of a very different variety: the upcoming album by Fucked Up, David Comes to Life.
