After the devastating news of John Prine's death surfaced yesterday (April 7), Wilco's Jeff Tweedy has shared a tribute to the singer-songwriter in one of his nightly "Tweedy Show" Instagram livestreams.

Covering "Illegal Smile," "Summer's End" and "Please Don't Bury Me," the artist was joined by his sons Spencer and Sammy during the stream to pay homage to the late Prine.

"Probably a little inappropriate," Tweedy said following his "Please Don't Bury Me" cover, "but celebratory as well, I hope."

A number of other artists have posted their tributes to Prine since his passing yesterday, including Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Kevin Morby, Conor Oberst, Dixie Chicks vocalist Natalie Maines and others.

John Prine died on Tuesday due to complications with COVID-19. He contracted the virus last month, with his family reporting his subsequent "stable condition" on March 30. He was 73 years old.
