"The Valley / Dead or Alive" (video)

Jazz Cartier doesn't want your damn iPhone: in the new video for "The Valley / Dead or Alive," the Toronto rapper makes his calls the old-fashioned way by using a payphone.

This is just one of the scenes in the visuals for this threatening, atmospheric combination of two tracks from this year's Marauding in Paradise. When Cartier is not in the phone booth, he's staring out the window of a hotel room, sitting a fancy restaurant and prowling the streets. It's tough to glean much meaning out of these shots, but the cinematic slo-mo camerawork means that it all looks very stylish.
